Bowling is a wonderful activity no matter what your motivation. It’s perfect for unwinding and spending quality time with family and friends, while on the other end of the spectrum, league and tournament bowling are competitive and exciting. For a select few of dedicated players, bowling can even become a lucrative career!
In just about any circumstance, bowling is far more enjoyable when you take the time to learn how to do it the right way. And that’s where our website comes in. We aim to teach you bowling fundamentals so you can feel more confident on the lanes no matter what your aspirations might be.
We have a complete series of free instructional bowling articles that teach you how to become a better bowler step-by-step.
We start with the basics like bowling safety and etiquette and bowling scoring and then introduce you to the required equipment, including bowling balls and bowling shoes.
Next, we walk you through the bowling shot from start to finish, from gripping the ball to releasing it and even learning how to throw a hook ball, a key technique for serious bowlers. Our tips and techniques are tried and tested and will give you everything you need to get out on the lanes bowling confidently.
We thought hard about packaging these articles together into a book, but decided it would be best to make them all freely available on this website, so anyone interested in bowling can read through them instantly without any strings attached. We hope you enjoy them, and we always appreciate when our readers share our site with friends or post a link on their website or social networking profiles.

Bowling is a whole lot more than just rolling a ball down the lane and hitting pins, and we aim to introduce you to this complexity while still making it seem like a lot of fun. (Which it is!) Simply put, bowling is one of the most exciting and entertaining sports you could ever hope to play, and we want to make sure you are getting as much out of it as you can.
Some people see pros bowling on TV and say something like “that looks easy; I could definitely get those scores!” Well, even if you could get the same score at your local alley, it wouldn’t be nearly as impressive of an accomplishment. This is due to the different oil patterns on the lanes in regular open bowling and official PBA sanctioned action. Basically, the conditions you find at your home alley are way easier than lane conditions in leagues or tournaments.
Now don’t get the wrong idea; I’m not saying this to discourage you, but rather reinforce the point that champion bowlers are impressive athletes who excel at a complicated, nuanced game.
By recognizing this, you can appreciate bowling better and you’ll be well on your way to becoming successful yourself. And our bowling articles will introduce the concept of lane conditions, as well as the other factors that make bowling the complex and exciting game that it is.

We also want this website to be a learning community, so if you happen to have a suggestion, question or tip, please go right ahead and leave a comment on any of our pages or blog posts. We’d love to hear how the bowling experience is going for you and will do our best to answer any questions you might have.
In addition to these articles, we also keep a bowling blog where we share our thoughts, break down our experiences in league, tournaments and open bowling, and offer additional tips. We’re passionate about our bowling and hope that you are too.
Finally, we’re a fairly new site and are still adding content.
